A Church in Christ
Watch the Full Message
Paul's message to Ephesus—a city consumed by pagan fear, consumerism, and deep division—is a timeless call for the modern church to embrace its true identity.
Our New Reality: Chosen, United, Purposeful
1. Identity IN CHRIST (Ephesians 1)
The Shift: From being spiritual Pawns—tossed by the whims of deities, fear, or cultural lies—to being Chosen People.
The Truth: You are set apart before the foundation of the world, redeemed by Christ’s blood, and adopted as sons and daughters. Your worth is secure, not tied to what you achieve, what you own, or what others say about you.
2. Unity IN CHRIST (Ephesians 2-3)
The Shift: From Division—like the Jew vs. Gentile strife in Ephesus, or the political and social outrage we see today—to One Body.
The Truth: Christ's cross tears down every wall of hostility, making us one family. This unity is our radical, compelling testimony to a fractured world. We are challenged to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Eph. 4:3).
3. Purpose IN CHRIST (Ephesians 4-6)
The Shift: From a mindset of Consumerism—chasing stuff, security, and empty promises (like the silversmith Demetrius’s idols)—to Eternal Purpose.
The Truth: We are Christ’s body, filled with His fullness (Eph. 1:23). We are called to lay aside the old man and put on the new man, doing everything (at work, at home, at school) as an act of worship for the glory of God (Col. 3:17).
The Challenge: Live IN CHRIST This Week
Break the world’s hold and live as God’s chosen, united, and purposeful people.
-
Reject a Lie
Write down a lie the world tells you ("My worth is my job," "I'm not enough"), cross it out, and replace it with "Chosen in Christ" (1 John 3:1).
-
Build Unity
Intentionally invite someone different than you to coffee or dinner this week (young/old, rich/poor) and talk about what Christ’s love means to you (John 13:35).
-
Live with Purpose
Be intentional at everything you do this week—from chores to work—doing it as if you are doing it for Jesus Himself (Col. 3:17).
