Walking Worthy IN CHRIST
From Doctrine to Direction: Moving from who we are in Christ to how we live in Christ.
The 5 Qualities of a Worthy Walk
1. Lowliness & Humility
The first step to a worthy life is recognizing we aren't worthy on our own. It means thinking of others as better than yourself and having the same attitude as Christ, who took the position of a slave.
2. Gentleness (Meekness)
This is "strength under control." Like handling a fragile, expensive object, we are to be soft and caring with others, ensuring we don't crush or damage the people around us.
3. Longsuffering (Patience)
The opposite of anger. It is giving others the benefit of the doubt and allowing time for them to correct mistakes, fueled by a forgiving and generous heart.
4. Bearing With One Another
Making "allowances" for each other's faults. We give others an allowance to spend their faults on us—putting up with each other even when we disagree or bug one another.
5. In Love
The essential ingredient. We love others because He loved us first. This isn't based on emotion or effort, but on the unchangeable fact that we are united in Christ.
The Bedrock of Unity
Unity is not something you create; it is the foundation you already stand on.
The Weekly Challenge
-
Check the Scales
Identify one area of your "walk" (conduct) this week that doesn't quite balance with the weight of God's grace in your life.
-
Give an Allowance
When someone bugs you or makes a mistake, intentionally "make an allowance" for their fault instead of reacting in anger.
-
Protect the Foundation
Choose to prioritize unity over your personal preferences, opinions, or politics in your interactions with other believers.
